About me leaving

Yes, I'm leaving.

It may be a thing unexpected for many people, but they've known that I've always wanted to go out there and some knew how much I was eager to move to the opposite side of this globe. This is my path chosen and prepared, so I shall go. In fact, I can't wait to go :)

I'll probably be leaving on August 26th, evening plane. But anyways I will come to school until the 25th since my parents insisted on me so. And as there is no direct flight available from Kuching to Washington, I'll be stopping over in KL or Singapore(as far as I know, KCH-KL-Chicago-Washington is the route that MAS provides) and so it's gonna be a long trip.

Now all the teachers know about me going and almost everyone in year 11. Well I think they know.. I just told Mel today during BM and Jae Jung somehow knew it already even before I told people, so Dennis and James knows too... I'm so sorry to leave so abruptly and suddenly, but in fact it has all been planned since like 4 months ago. But to see the optimistic side, I don't have to take the IGCSE exams anymore!

And that depresses at the same time, 'cause the IGCSE was what I've been working for from last year.. and now when all the other people are doing the revisions and stuff, I feel kinda funny 'cause I know I won't take the Exams nor even the trials! So why study, or come to school for? Well I feel a bit wasted and all the teachers agreed.

And some people already posted about me leaving!(and I still have a whole month till departure!)

Audrey's comment (actually this has been posted like, 2 months ago)
Anas' comment (...yeah.)

And Ying wrote me sth like a profile and asked me to write one, too. Laura is telling me that she likes 'crazy sis(me!)' -tho I'm not sure whether this is relevant to my departure- and the Korean guys in my class said good luck! And all the reat of the ppl wished me good luck, too. The only thing is that I'm hearing too much of "So you're not taking IGCSEs???" which is exactly. the. same. reactions. from. everyone.

Well it's true that I'm kinda sad to leave my friends here.. but anyways it's for my 0wn good, right? So I'm going all positive and try to achieve my dreams(as told by Vincent today with an experiment) in America where all the people who dream of American Dreams end up in. It's a new path open for me, so why hesitate??

And oh don't worry. I'll be back in Kuching during the summer hols. Probably. So if you are staying here for A-levels and stuff, you can still see me next year :)

So, Ciao!(for now)

p.s. 1:

I'm seriously running out of books to read. I'm trying to concentrate on 'Emma', but it's a bit boring compared to Emily Bronte's other fictions since all it talks about is matchmaking and romance. Not that I don't like romances, I enjoy them! But not on the classics, please. And I found this book called 'The Widow of OZ' in a second-hand book store in Ampang Point, KL, last week and I'd love to read it but they don't have it in Kuching. Plus, Murakami Haruhi is an interesting author. I loved his books such as 'Elephant Vanishes' and 'Dance Dance Dance'. They were just fantabulous.

p.s. 2:

Everyone watched the Batman movie and are kind of excited about Joker. My brother's a fan of the animated series on Cartoon Network so I think I'm gonna go watch it with my brother before I leave :)

Joker is a freak. I know.

In Kuala Lumpur

Yea! I'm in Kuala Lumpur! To be more specific, I'm at a cyber-cafe in Bukit Bintang, right across my hotel. It's nice to be out here, and KL is surely a big city compared to Kuching(I think I like Kch better tho..). I have an appointment at the embassy tomorrow morning and it's like 11 p.m. now.... I know I've gotta have some sleep but just the moment I was about to quit, one of my friend started talking to me on MSN :P So, I'm just lingering here. This afternoon, I went to the KLCC and did a bit of shopping. A book, some stationaries, a new pencilcase, pore packs, a hairpin etc. There are so many Arab people out here -especially in Bkt Bintang- , and it feels like being in Egypt again despite the scents of D24 and hokkien mee. Not so alien for me. Well, I was going to write more, but since it's getting late I guess I should get off now and get a can of shandy before going back to my hotel room. I really can't meet the ambassador in my not-so-good condition. Hmph, Good night :)

Stuff

I'm currently reading this book called "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. Its title is doubtlessly very interesting and eye-catching, which made me have this irresistable impulse to get it and read it when I saw it in the MPH last Friday(which was 11th of July) :P

And NO, it's not a homosexual or trans-gender thing, it's about a biological tragedy caused by kinship marriages of a family, and bits and pieces of history of Greece and America from 1922. Some parts are kind of educational. Really.

The book is a narrative of a person named Cal, who was born a girl but turned a boy as she(or he) grew up. The narrator asserts that it's all genetic and tells a chronological history of his ancestors, starting from his grandparents, who were siblings.

The disease which turned Cal into a hermaphrodite is called "Gender Identity in 5-Alpha-Reductase Pseudohermaphrodites", - which I have no idea if anything like that actually exists - according to the author, and just like what we've learnt in Bio classes, the gene that contained the faulty allele was a recessive one. However, the fault was visible on her(or rather, him) as she turned a teenager.

Actually, I don't know the rest of the story since I'm still halfway through. It's really a long, very long narrative for a family history. The thing is, that, it's not so boring as you may expect.

The whole story is very well developed(so far) and it well has an interesting flow of the events. Except the first few pages where the narrator briefly tells about his popularity among biologists and physicians - which I really couldn't catch in the beginning -, it's all so amazingly comprehensible albeit its professional uses of vocabularies and unbelieveable events(which most of us do not usually see, like: war, slaughters, illiterate soldiers raping doctor's daughters and then cutting their breasts off, and of course, sibling-marriages). And the author's descriptive language is almost wonderful(it's usually American and sometimes Homeric).

The pic above is the final piece for the 2nd term Art&Design paper 2.

She a friend(an ex-classmate)of Cho Hee's, and if I trail back, a friend of a friend of my friend(not Cho Hee of course). Because she is a costume player, the links somehow met :P(However she doesn't know of my existancy)

It's pretty well done(The camera lense tilted and distorted the whole thing a bit but it looks better if you actually see it) and Mr Mo wanted to put this pic up on the bulletin in the hallway.. but I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" because, kind of obviously, I feel bad about a person's face drawn, painted, and hung on a school bulletin without the model knowing it.

I'm gonna feel like a stalker if Mr Mo didn't give back the pic. However, in stead, my own face drawn by myself in cartoon style is(are; including the supportings) hung up there now. It's terribly embarrasing and I have to draw another pic to bring it down!!!!!(Ugh, why didn't I draw a random celebrity???)

This is a cross-stitch of a yellow rose which I managed to finish in 3 days; from 10~12 of Jul(Thuresday to Saturday), first 2 days being still during the exams. It was extremely fun although I stayed up until like 1 a.m. doing this when I was supposed to study, and again, a funny thing happened; I almost lost interest in it as soon as the exam was finished! LOL ;P

However I did another one - sth like a keychain - for Laura yesterday, because I knew she'd get a whole bunch of pig dolls from all the other ppl and she was kind of impressed when she saw my rose the other day and indeed, liked it :)

Of course she liked it and I received like, 2 kisses from her in return... *blush* Happy birthday, Laura!

Urm, another random thing. I have a friend who looks like Alicia Keys back in Egypt. I just so suddenly realised that while watching MTV yesterday. She's a half-blood Korean, her father being an Italian. I hadn't been in touch with her for a while, but it'd be nice to visit her facebook again once in a while.

And like always, sorry for not k.i.t. all the time :P
(I really want to update more often, but I just can't somehow.)

***p.s.
Can you please tag me if you have a link to my blog on your blogs so that I can link you back? I really gotta have all the links but it's hard to decide where to begin with. tks!
